Ophélie Doman - Founder

Ophélie is a passionate and experienced French teacher dedicated to revolutionising the way French is taught to young learners.
A graduate of the Institute of Education (UCL), the world’s leading institution in education, Ophélie brings unparalleled expertise and a fresh, innovative approach to language instruction.

Born in Paris into an Assyrian family, Ophélie grew up speaking Aramaic, her mother tongue, which instilled in her an early appreciation for the power of language

With Lishana Academy, named after the Aramaic word for “language,” Ophélie has made it her mission to nurture a love for the French language in both primary and secondary students.
She believes that, just as a plant needs careful tending to grow, a child’s appreciation for languages must be cultivated from an early age to truly flourish.

Ophélie’s approach to teaching goes beyond mere academics; she views language learning as a key to cultural understanding and personal development. Her commitment is to make French both accessible and enjoyable, ensuring that every student not only learns the language but also embraces it with enthusiasm.

Through Lishana Academy, Ophélie is not just teaching French, she is on a mission to ignite a lifelong passion for languages in every student. She is shaping the next generation of global citizens who will approach the world with curiosity, empathy, and confidence.

Values:

  • Passion is contagious and that when our students see and feel our enthusiasm, it inspires them to embrace their language journey with equal fervor. We are dedicated to igniting that spark within our students and helping them develop a genuine love for the French language.

  • Creativity is the key to unlocking the full potential of language learning.  We believe that creativity enhances language learning, making it more engaging, memorable, and personally meaningful for our students. By fostering a creative environment, we encourage our students to think outside the box, express themselves freely, and truly immerse themselves in the French language.

  • Empowerment opens doors to new cultures, perspectives, and opportunities, it lies at the core of our teaching philosophy. Through personalised instruction, constructive feedback, and goal-oriented strategies, we aim to build our students' confidence and equip them with the necessary tools to succeed in mastering the French language. We want our students to feel empowered to communicate effectively in French.
